Lynton Lamb studied wood engraving and book illustration under Noel Rooke, as well as lithography and painting, at the Central School of Arts, 1927-30. His design work was equally varied. The Orient Line in the '30s had a policy of commissioning leading artists and designers to provide furnishings, murals and works of art to decorate the interiors of their ships. Lamb provided architectural decorations as well as many menu cards up until the 1950s.
