Costume for Juliet worn by Peggy Ashcroft in an extract from William Shakespeare's play 'Romeo and Juliet', performed at a special royal gala for President M M Lebrun of France in the India Office courtyard, Whitehall, London, 23rd March 1939. The costume was designed by Elizabeth Haffenden, and John Gielgud appeared as Romeo.

Given to the British Theatre Museum Association by Dame Peggy Ashcroft in November 1966.
