Place of origin |
Edward Bawden designed this poster for London Transport to promote coach trips from London to three sites in the home counties: Tring Park in Hertfordshire (home of Lord Rothschild, and housing a zoological museum), Downe House (the former home of Charles Darwin) in Kent, and Quebec House (the early home of General Wolfe), in Westerham, also in Kent. Each house is pictured in a simplified vignette, presented like a picture against a wallpaper-like pattern of corn-stooks printed in reddish-brown on black.
