Object history | According to the BTMA index, this dressing gown was worn by Coward in the first production of Present Laughter in 1943, but it does not appear in any of the photographs of the production. Coward gave the dressing gown to Robert Flemyng, who played Garry Essendine in a tour of the play opening at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle in March 1966 (possibly a continuation of the tour of the Queen's Theatre, London, 1965 production, which was on tour in March 1966 with Nigel Patrick as Garry Essendine) |
