17 DESIGN FOR A WALLPAPER 1851 Pugin probably based this design on a 15th-century wall painting in Salisbury. It was reproduced as a flock wallpaper and used in the Houses of Parliament, but could also be adapted for tiles. Pencil, with wash and bodycolour; the pattern has been pricked for transfer Designed by A.W.N. Pugin; for manufacture by Frederick Crace & Son, London Inscribed in a hand other than Pugin’s Museum no. D.741-1908
