Place of origin |
The United Farm Workers were founded in 1962 by César Chávez and Dolores Huerta as the National Farm Workers Association, lobbying for employment rights and living standards for farm workers. The successful and high-profile boycott of California table grapes demanded that growers stop using toxic chemicals which harmed farm workers. This action started in Delano, California in 1965, but continued boycotts saw variations of this poster issued throughout the 1970s until various agreements were struck for the improvement of conditions in 1977-8.
