Armée ORTF Police [Army- ORTF- Police]

Poster
1968 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

In May 1968, students took to the streets in Paris in revolt against the existing regime, and in the belief that, in alliance with the workers, they could create a new utopian society not based on capitalism and consumerism. Strikes and civil disorder ensued. Here the target is President De Gaulle, satirised as a clamp crushing the ORTF (Office de la Radiodiffusion Télévision Française) between the army and the police. Uneven printing and rough-cut paper edges testify to the urgency of this poster’s biting attack.
