The main part of the sole of each foot is divided into 108 squares. Two rows of the squares encircle the cushions of the heels which are delineated with a spiraling circle. The toes are decorated with right voluted conch shells. The squares are filled with Burmese auspicious symbols associated with Hindu-Buddhist ideas on royalty, cosmology, and mythology. Heaven is seen in the depictions of stylised pavillions, lakes, and mountains. Royal insignia depicted includes peacocks and conch shells. Representations of creatures real and mythological include galons (part man part predatory bird), karaweiks and hinthas (mythical birds), nagas (serpents), kinnaras (heavenly winged figures), chinthes (lions), bullocks and so on.
