The fabric was woven in Lyon to the designer's specification, and then sent to her studio in California where she herself hand-dyed it using resist-dying techniques.
Historical context
Marian Clayden has been working out of her California studio since the early 1970s. She is an American craft-based designer who sells her work through many of America's most important department stores.
