Plate of soft-paste porcelain painted in purple enamel and gilded. Spirally moulded border with a band of basketwork, wavy outline and gilt edge. Border with four bouquets of flowers painted in purple monochrome. The centre is painted with a landscape vignette with six figures, a river, and a castle in the background in purple enamel over a gilt ornamental device. Gilt trellis, scroll and leaf ornament.

Object history | From a service whose 19th century owners, the Groutaiers de Resquin, presented a tradition that it belonged to Mqr. de François-Antoine de Méan (1756-1831), last Prince-Bishop of Liège.
