Physical description
Wide-mounted jug on flaring foot and with angular handle painted brown, the body painted in green and black with flowers and the edges emphasised with feathering in black and green; the cover is similarly painted, but more finely so, and as it has a glaze of a different tint and a naturalistic cover finial painted purple-pink, it may not be original to the ewer

Given to Mr Rosenheim by Lt. Col. G. B. Croft-Lyons, who stated that he purchased it at Hove. Bought at the Rosenheim sale, 3, May 1923, lot 222.
Production
Acquired as Marseilles, ca. 1750; reattributed to factory of Veuve Perrin; illustrated in Arthur Lane, French Faïence, 1948, pl. 51, as Savy factory, ca. 1760-70.
