Biscuit tins – a bite-sized history
Our collection includes over 800 biscuit tins, produced between 1868 and 1939. Together they offer a tantalising snapshot of changing tastes, consumerism, and technological innovation.
The V&A has 166 works related to Barringer, Wallis & Manners.
Made between 1885 and 1942, these objects form part of the Metalwork Collection and Young V&A Collection. We hold work made from tinplate, velvet and brass (alloy). Related makers include William Crawford & Sons, Macfarlane, Lang & Co. and Huntley & Palmers.
