They show his eclectic range of interests in a wide variety of stylistic and technical possibilities arising from his training as a restorer. One, in white enamel and gilt, is derived from Persian or Saracenic metal decoration, while the other, in two shades of blue enamelling and gilding, is based on Venetian glass decoration in the same technique of the 1500s.(1987-2006)
