Historical context
GC Bunney's father was the painter JW Bunney, a protege of Ruskins. GC was named after DG Rossetti and a son of Holman Hunt. GC was an assistant to WR Lethaby at camberwell and he taught at the SK Schools; later he taught at Birmingham Central School.
Production
painted by Gabriel Cyril Bunney on a blank made by an unidentified company in Tunstall, signed and dated "GB June 1915 (painted) .... Ltd Tunstall 5.18.10 (impressed)". Part of a set given by GC Bunney to his nephew Michael JH Bunney (father of the donors) as a wedding present in 1935. Gift of John and Sarah Bunney See Subject/object information files.
