Vase and pedestal, Austria (Vienna), probably designed by Josef Ritter von Storck, made by J. & L. Lobmeyr, possibly at the Meyr's Neffe Adolfshütte glassworks, 1878-1878, 411-1878 .

This vase has a classical form but its decoration combines Renaissance acanthus leaves, Indian scrolls and Arab interlace. Storck and Salb were influential designers and teachers. Austria, Vienna; probably designed by Josef Salb; made by J.&L. Lobmeyr, possibly at Mery's Neffe Adolfschütte Glassworks Glass, mould-blown and enamelled Museum no. 411-1878' (22/04/2017)

At the London 1862 Exhibition Lobmeyr's pieces employed antique and Renaissance motifs and forms. At the Paris 1878 Exhibition, where this vase was shown, their repertoire had expanded to take in oriental ornament form Indian to Arab. The vase, classical in form, displays a synthesis of Renaissance acanthus leaves, Indian scrolls and Arabic interlace. (1987-2006)

The form of this vase may have been designed by Josef Ritter von Storck (1830-1902) and its ornament by Josef Salb (1845-1904). Exhibited at the Paris 1878 Exhibition.

At the London 1862 Exhibition Lobmeyr's pieces employed antique and Renaissance motifs and forms. At the Paris 1878 Exhibition, where this vase was shown, their repertoire had expanded to take in oriental ornament form Indian to Arab. The vase, classical in form, displays a synthesis of Renaissance acanthus leaves, Indian scrolls and Arabic interlace.
