| Production | A reduced version of a large marble sculpture made by Falconet in 1757 and now in the Louvre. According to S. Ericksen and G. de Bellaigue, the model and first mould of the Sèvres biscuit figure were made in the course of 1758, and production started in the same year during which five examples were sold at 144 livres each. Compare also example in Falconet à Sèvres, Musee de Sèvres, 2001, cat 95b, which is dated 1766-1773. |
