BADA 2004 Exhibition label: ZIG ZAG CANDLESTICK Cast Aluminium, England, 1987, designed by Matthew Hilton (b. 1957), made by Essex Replica Castings for Sheridan Coakley Productions (SCP) Matthew Hilton is one of the leading designers of the 20th century, known particularly for his avant-garde furniture. He doesn't believe in design movements or like the concept of design as fashion. He believes instead that the design process is part of the evolution of an object. Set up in 1985, SCP was the first manufacturer to produce Hilton's work and is now firmly established as an innovative and internationally respected British manufacturer, retailer and supplier of contemporary design.
