Place of origin |
Like many contemporary artists, Rose Finn-Kelcey transcends the boundaries between visual art, performance, entertainment, and technology-based media. The artist devised House Rules with the Multiple Store at Central Saint Martins College of Art. It is a miniature illuminated, animated sign displaying an endless stream of words which appear to come from nowhere and go nowhere.
The work subverts the LED convention of informing and instructing by displaying a hypnotic flow of prohibitions. These are sporadically interrupted by dissenting or confused interjections, such as ’hnnh?’, and blurted expletives.
