This is a contemporary record of the Russian delegation sent to Regensberg, Germany, in 1576 with gifts for the Holy Roman Emperor. At the front of the procession are five officials. Tsar Ivan IV’s son carries the 'letter of credentials' on a red cushion. Other delegates hold gifts including sable furs. On their return to Moscow, the delegation celebrates mass according to the Orthodox rite, seeking a blessing for the emperor.
