Made of one length of handwoven natural white cotton fabric folded in half (the fold forming the pocket of the bag) and a narrow strip of black cloth which forms the sides and carrying strap and finished in long tassels.

Band of fine geometric patterns in a supplementary weft weave in red, blue, green and yellow on the white ground decorate the upper part of the body of the bag. While sets of five stylised rosettes - variations of kanipu ("poppy-in-bloom") in red and green on the black ground decorate the sides.

Object history
This shoulder bag together with 2354(IS), 2355(IS) and 2357(IS) were presented to the India Museum by Captain Crawford Cooke on 7/11/1877.
Production
1880 Slip Book states that four embroidered bags* were presented in 7/11/[18]77 by Captain Crawford Cooke and that they were articles of clothing worn by the Kachyen tribe.
