Pair of salts, circular, the convex side ornamented with scrollwork and three niches occupied by a figure of Pan, a woman and a boy with a dog respectively. The depression for the salt is surrounded by a laurel wreath. Each of the three feet is in the form of a female monster ending below in foliage. The handle of the spoon is formed as a winged female terminal.

Object history | These salts may be imitating late 16th-century Augsburg silver. Neresheimer of Hanau produced such pieces which were occasionally sold in England as "old plate." |
