This batik skirt cloth or kain panjang is of cotton mill cloth and has a cream ground with an overall pattern of mythological birds among flowering vines and tendrils. It was made in Chirebon on the north coast of Java in the late 19th century.

Physical description

Skirt cloth (Kain panjang) of cotton batik. Batik on a cotton mill cloth with a cream ground and an overall pattern of mythological birds amongst flowering vines and tendrils, in maroon and deep maroon. The pattern is framed with a single line 0.5 inch thick within the outer edge of cloth.
