Physical description

Dressed bisque-headed doll with extra clothes. The dress is in a very fashionable style of the 1880s for girls to wear, although the lace bonnet and the doll's mouth with the tongue between the lips are more suggestive of a baby.

Object history note

The doll, known as Louisa, was given by Miss F Ashbee (RF [19]61/1861). (Jane) Felicity Ashbee was born 22/02/1913 and died 26/07/2008, the daughter of the architect and craftsman C R (Charles Robert) Ashbee and his wife Janet Forbes. Felicity Ashbee was an artist, designer, author and teacher.
