  • P&Co., 'A' and a simulated sterling mark (Pittar and Co.)
  • Monogram 'HK' and crest on back: hand holding a sword, underneath 'FVIMVS' (Crest and motto of Kennedy of Kirkwell)

Object history
Pittar and Company operated under a several partnerships in Kolkata between 1825 and 1840. One of the early partners was probably Robert Hamilton of Hamilton and Co. who adopted a similar Roman 'A' mark on their silver produced in India.
