Emes and Barnard were one of the largest manufacturing firms in Britain. They supplied other businesses such as Rundell, Bridge and Rundell. Their pattern books contain many variations on this style. The body of this cup follows the classic vase form that had been fashionable for presentation pieces during the previous 25 years, and which had done so much to establish Rundells' reputation. The cup is decorated with revived Rococo leaves, flowers and fruit and a scene of yacht racing off Weymouth in Dorset.
