Sigurd Persson (1914-2003) was the son of a silversmith. He studied in Munich before the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, and then in Stockholm. He has enjoyed an internationally successful career as a silversmith, jeweller and industrial designer. He was an important influence on British silversmiths during the 1950s and 1960s.

Physical description | Coffee pot, silver with an elm wood handle. The body, a plain cylinder with a domed lid, hinged at the side and with a plain, hemi-spherical thumbpiece; the spout attached to the centre of the body rises upwards at at an angle of 45°, is hemispherical in cross section with a flat top. The handle of elm wood, placed opposite the spout faces downwards and fits into a socket, similar in cross section to the spout with a plain, moulded edge. The surface of the silver is given an overall, hammered finish. |
