Historical context | It is noted on the print that the elk depicted was from the Leverian Museum. The Leverian Museum was the museum of Sir Ashton Lever and exhibited at Leicester House, on Leicester Square in London, England, from 1775 to 1786. The collection was particularly noted for objects relating to Pacific ethnography and natural history. |
