Physical description | Six small ivory panels carved with flowers and leaves, set within a rectangular, silver-gilt frame. Box embossed with a motif surrounding shaped panels with carved ivory panels, two in the front and back, one at each end, all with floral or leaf swags. One at the left and inscribed: XXIX. The domed lid embellished with a variety of leaf and floral motifs embossed. There is a large ivory panel on the top of the box lid carved with a Venus and Cupid. |

Mark SPO for the Societe Parisienne d'Orfevrerie and the artist's monogram for Edmond-Henri Becker on the main ivory panel on the cover; the Roman numeral XXIX on one of the side panels. The base, front and underside bear the mark for the first quality silver. One of a numbered set.
