Object history
Toast racks were important table ware at breakfast and tea and could be purchased in a number of materials including silver, ceramics and electroplate. Compare this design in Sheffield plate with a similar design in silver (M 38 -1943). The plainest toast racks in electroplate cost just over £1 from Elkingtons in 1869.
