Bowl, made by Joyce Himsworth (1906-1989) and made in Sheffiield, c.1935. Copper with silver mounts. Marked HIMSWORTH, SHEFFIELD
Physical description
A shallow, hemispherical bowl is supported on a squat cylindrical stem which rests on a circular base. The foot is a cambered, brass ring encircled by a narrow, silver ring. The hammer marks are evident on the bowl. The stem has a series of narrow, oblong, upright silver panels overlaid on to the copper surface and a narrow piece of wire seperates each panel along the bottom of the exposed copper rectangle. Within each of these rectangles is an incised, geometric design composed of curves and triangles.
