A jug could be used for serving a variety of cold drinks such as beer, iced water or wine at the dinner table. Digby Scott and Benjamin Smith had a workshop in Greenwich and were the principal manufacturing subsidiary of Rundell, Bridge and Rundell from 1801/2 until 1807. The partnership continued to supply silver to Rundells until about 1812.

Physical description | Jug, silver, bulbous body rising to a restricted throat ornamented with a broad band of chased vine leaves and grapes and a smaller band, near the mouth of shellwork, repoussé and chased, everted spout, the domed lid, hinged to the body at the rear surmounted by an acorn finial. The foot, circular with a beaded band, S shaped handle decorated witha rosette. |
