Claus Bjerring is one of the few major silversmiths practising in Denmark today. He started his career working for Georg Jensen in 1973. Since leaving them in 1976, he was initially associated with Galerie metal and subsequently, the Tactus Gallery in Copenhagen. He has successfully developed his own career with a series of highly important one man and group shows , both in his home country and abroad. He has exhibited at the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto, the American Craft Museum, New York, the Cleveland Institute of Art, USA, and at Kensington Palace, London, amongst many other venues. He is represented in the permanent collections of the Kunstindustrimuseet, Copenhagen.

He specializes in mixing precious and base metals in a variety of interesting ways. This provides vivid contrasts of colour and texture and, coupled with a very disciplined sense of form, his pieces display tremendous presence and individuality.

Physical description
The vase is in the form of a tapered cone, ascending to a narrow aperture with the rim parallel to the base. The surface is comprised of silver strips, alternating with inlaid strips of copper forming a Greek key pattern.
