| Object history | The mask is for one of the Enchanted Girls in Kenneth MacMillan's ballet The House of Birds, designed by Nicholas Georgiadis. The name in the mask links it to the revival of the ballet for the Royal Ballet Touring Company in the early 1960s, rather than the creation of the ballet for the Sadler's Wells Theatre Ballet in 1955. It was worn by Gloria Blumel. The colour of the feathers on this and the companion masks (S.82-2003 and S.81-2003) are typical of Georgiadis. |
