Object history | Acquisition RF: 76 / 2160 Gift - Dr Enid D Stoye & Dr J W Stoye Oxford From service. Designed by Walter Stoye (1886-1974) for his wife. Stoye was a keen draughtsman who won a scholarship to the Central School of Arts and Crafts where he subsequently became a teacher in metal and enamel work. He also taught at the Brighton School of Art and the Camberwell School of Art. He is said to have joined the firm of Barkentin & Krall as a designer some time between 1912 and 1914. In 1915, he married Carl Krall's daughter Annie and succeeded his father-in-law as Managing Director after the First World War until it closed in 1935.
