This is a silver gilt medal made by Lorenz Rosenbaum in 1563. The obverse of the medal represents Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor, and his wife Maria facing left. This medal was made shortly before Maximilian became Holy Roman Emperor. He is wearing the crown of the throne of Bohemia, and the Order of the Golden Fleece.

Provenance: Tross. 140 medals and reliefs were purchased from M. Henri Tross of Paris for £500 by J.C. Robinson for the Museum in 1867.
Summary
