This is a silver medal made by Johann Philipp von der Pütt in about 1596. The medal is an rare example of an oval medal. It has only an obverse which represents the bust of Wolf Pömer facing right, bearded and wearing a cap, ruff and fur-lined gown.
Johann Philipp von der Pütt (active 1589 – d. 1619), the father of Hans von der Pütt, came originally from Dordrecht, and became citizen of Nuremberg in 1589. He was a goldsmith and medallist; the models for his medals are of wax.
