This is a silver medal made by Hans von der Pütt in Germany in about 1610-21. The medal represents Johann Schroeder of Nuremberg (1572-1621).

Hans von der Pütt, the son of Johann Philipp von der Pütt, was a goldsmith and wax-modeller active mainly in Nuremberg. He was a seal-cutter, but also excuted works in bronze, such as a bust of Gustav Adolph of Sweden in 1632. His models for medals were in wax.

Provenance: Tross. 140 medals and reliefs were purchased from M. Henri Tross of Paris for £500 by J.C. Robinson for the Museum in 1867.
