This medal depicts the Abbot of Kaiserheim, Conrad Reutter (1477-1540), who became Abbot in 1509. Reutter was a scholar distinguished in theology, law, music and poetry.
The style of the medal recalls Matthes Gebel's work and may have been executed by him in the workshop of the anonymous Nuremberg master.

Provenance: Salting Bequest. George Salting (b. 1836; d. 1909), an Australian who settled in England, bequeathed a large collection of works decorative art to the Museum in 1909.
