This is a medal made by the Monogrammist PL in 1559. This medal, representing Jörg Ebner, is copied from a medal by Joachim Deschler; it is the only known work by the monogrammist. It seems to be made of talc or steatite, rather than Solnhofen stone. The inscription is clumsily inscribed, and the work may be a later pastiche of a sixteenth-century German medal.

Object history
Provenance: Tross. 140 medals and reliefs were purchased from M. Henri Tross of Paris for £500 by J.C. Robinson for the Museum in 1867.

May be a later pastiche of a 16th century medal. It seems to made of talc or steatite, rather than Solnhofen stone.
