This is a lead medal made by the Monogrammist CI (active 1590-1608) in Germany, 1604. The obverse of this medal represents Sigmund Gammersfelder (1547-1603) of Nuremberg and the reverse shows Gammersfelder's wife Maria Gammersfelder (1550-1619).

The initials CI appear on two medals catalogued by Habich. He cited Erman and Gessert who identified this monogrammist with the Nuremberg artist Christoph Jamnitzer, the grandson of Wenzel Jamnitzer. Gessert believed the style of the monogrammist recalled the work of Valentin Maler.
