Object history
This is one of a set of teapots (C.10 to 22-1990) reproduced by the Franklin Mint after examples in the V&A's collections and marketed as the Victoria and Albert Museum Porcelain Teapot Collection. This teapot is copied from a Mennecy teapot C.527-1909. The broken spout of the original has been faithfully and upwittingly copied. An explanatory collectors' card is in the Object Information file, together with an account of the Franklin Mint's marketing strategy. For the display cabinet see C.21-1990.
Production
Probably produced in the Far East. Contract signed with V&A in 1984; first launched in USA in September 1985 and subsequently in the UK.
