This is a lead medal made by Hans Daucher in Germany in about 1513. The medal represents a full-length portrait of Emperor Maximilian on horseback. The date of this medal means that this is one of the earliest German medals. It was cast from a stone model, and resembles works such as Daucher's relief of Charles V greeting his brother Ferdinand on horseback.
Hans Daucher (ca. 1485-ca. 1538) was a sculptor and son of Adolf Daucher. He was the finest sculptor in Augsburg during the 1520s
