This coconut is elaborately carved with the scenes from the mythological stories of Diana and Actaeon, Daphne and Apollo and the Judgement of Paris; it is signed on the edge of the bath in the Diana panel with the artist's initials, WTF.

Physical description

Coconut mounted in elaborately chased silver bands with a cast lid surmounted by a figure, all standing on a chased bell shaped foot and stand, the body carved with Diana and Actaeon, and the Judgement of Paris.

Is the upper concave band on the rim of this cup 19th century?
TS: close similarity to an eg in Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Note the coconut is signed W, T and F(?) in the scene of Diana and Acteon, on the chest in the foreground.
