In a cartouche with drinking glasses and poles hung with smoked fish, two well-dressed gentlemen in tricorne hats sit drinking beer outside a tavern on a cobbled street. A horse and cart are tethered to their left. On their right are three more patrons, and in the centre background a woman (barmaid?) emerges from the door of a building with leaded windows.
