Marks and inscriptions | Inscribed (verso) in pencil, in another hand, possibly that of a museum official 'A. Welby Pugin / From Mr. Tregellas, acting as / Executor for the late Mr. / Tabbot [sic] Bury, to whom it / belonged 1877'. |
Object history | This drawing with its uncharacteristic imprecise handling is probably a youthful work. It may date from 1827 when A.C. Pugin took his son and pupils, among whom Talbot Bury was at that time a member, on a sketching tour in northern France. |
