A rocking horse made from wood with leather and corduroy accoutrements. Painted dapple grey with a white hores hair mane and tail, brown glass eyes and black painted hooves. The rockers are painted green with brown decoration. The hooves are bolted onto the rockers. The horse has been heavily restored with a new saddle and bridle. Bridle, martingale and saddle are fixed with brass rosette studs. The seat of the saddle is made of yellow corduroy and the stirrups are of metal. Some gesso is missing from the upper legs and some paint is chipped.

Purchased in 1979 from Lady Lorna Howard (née Baldwin, 1896-1989), second daughter of ex-British Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin (1867-1947).

Production
David Kiss of the Rocking Horse Workshop was of the opinion that this example in fact dates to around 1920. Further research is needed to confirm its date of manufacture.
