'Sir Francis Drake'. Engraved copperplate. Portrait of Sir Francis Drake in a decorative frame surrounded by objects including; a trident, a mast, cannons, an anchor and topped with a crown (the design of which is reminiscent of ships' sterns). Below the frame 'Sr FRANCIS DRAKE' is lettered on a banner. Below this is a smaller ovoid frame in which a sea battle is depicted, most probably that of the English fleet against the Spanish Armada in 1588.
