After Westminster Abbey's sequence of alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries, William Burges and other artist friends strongly advocated for the 13th century church's return to its original medieval form.

Physical description

Pencil and paint drawing on paper of an altar front at Westminster Abbey. Jesus is depicted in long green and red robes within a yellow pointed arch niche. His right hand is raised in a motion to make a blessing and he holds a painted orb in his left hand.
