This is a relief medallion made by Peter Rouw in England in 1814. The relief is in tinted wax and representing Prince Lucien Bonaparte, a brother of Napoleon. He lived in England from 1807 to 1814, under surveillance, after having been captured by a British ship.
Peter Rouw (1771-1852) was a successful wax modeller, who specialised in portrait waxes. He was also appointed modeller of gems and cameos to His Royal Highness the Prince Regent.
