Poster

1990 (printed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This poster formed part of the United Colors of Benetton clothing company's autumn/winter advertising campaign in 1990. Part of the marketing strategy adopted by designer Oliviero Toscani was to use visual imagery associated with controversial political and social current events. Here, test-tubes filled with blood are labelled with the forenames of world leaders from across the political spectrum. The 'united color' of their blood suggests the Benetton strapline.
